defects in the sample.  Further production of the power supplies by the
supplier, prior to the approval of the preproduction sample, shall be at
the supplier's risk.
4.3.4 Periodic production sample.  From each succeeding lot or grand
lot of 100 or less units, preserved and packaged as specified in Section
5, two power supplies shall be randomly selected.  Unless otherwise spec-
ified in the contract or purchase order, these units shall be submitted
to an activity designated by The procuring activity to determine compliance
of the samples with the requirements of the contract, specifications, and
drawings. The power supplies shall be considered satisfactory if they meet
all specifications and pertinent drawing requirements and withstand the
tests specified in 4.6 and 4.7.  Failure of the periodic production sample
to comply with these requirements will result in the rejection of the lot,
as determined by the procuring activity.  Periodic production samples ac-
cepted will be applied as part of the quantity specified by the contract
or order, but shall not be used in any equipment manufactured for the
Government.
4.4 Product examinations.  Each power supply selected in accordance
with Table I shall be subjected to a thorough examination to ascertain
that the material, workmanship, assembly, and general appearance of
the units are in compliance with the requirements of 3.2.3 through 3.2.11.
Inspection shall be accomplished prior to assembly when necessary.
4.5 Test equipment
4.5.1 Power source.
A 3-phase power source of the following charac-
teristics:
(a) Voltage capable of being baried over the range of 187 to 242
volts and 396 to 484 volts.
(b) Frequency variable from 57 to 63 Hz and 47-1/2 to 52-1/2 Hz.
(c) Minimum current capability of 25 amperes in each phase.
4.5.2 A metered load capable of being varied from 0-230 amps over a
voltage range of 6 to 90 volts direct current (vdc).
4.5.3 Oscilloscope capable of calibration to read 1.00 volt with an
accuracy of 5 percent and time up to 100 milliseconds with an accuracy
of 5 percent.
4.5.4 A 500 volt dc megger, AN/PSM 1 or equivalent.
