and body assembly shall be raised to a measured 3 psi 0.5 psi. The internal
pressure of the head and body assemblies shall be monitored for a period of 5
minutes 15 seconds.  At the end of the 5 minutes period there shall be no
evidence of leakage in the head assembly or body assembly as indicated on the
pressure gauge of the testing equipment.  The head assembly and body assem-
blies shall then be subjected to the applicable test specified in 4.6.17 and
4.6.18.
4.6.17 Cleanliness - head assembly.  Perform this test in accordance with
the requirements of 3.11.6.1. The accepted head assembly, with shipping
covers-installed, shall conform to the cleanliness requirements of 3.16.1.
4.6.18 Cleanliness, body assembly-nine power system. Energize the image
tube and reticle pattern of the body assembly and obtain best focus of the
image screen and reticle pattern.  While viewing through the eyepiece for evi-
dence of dirt or forein matter rotate the diopter knob to each stop (cw and
ccw), when rotate the focus knob to each stop (cw and ccw). The nine power
optical system of the body assembly shall meet the cleanliness requirements of
3.15.2.  Any dirt particle that interferes with legibility of the reticle pat-
tern shall be cause for rejection of the body assembly.
4.6.19 Interchangeability.
4.6.19.1 Interchangeability - mechanical.  This test shall be performed
utilizing the maximum and minimum interchangability gages conforming to
Drawings F11738178 and F11738179.  The periscopes (head and body assembly)
shall be capable of insertion into the above gages. After insertion, the
periscopes shall be capable of being firmly secured and subsequently removed.
4.6.19.2 Interchangeability - pressure retention. This test shall &
performed utilizing the mount pressure test fixture conforming to Drawing
F11738184.  This pressure retention test shall be conducted utilizing clean
dry air.  For purposes of this test "clean dry air" is that quality of air
that will not deposit dirt or moisture on the components of the assembly under
test, when the test is conducted at a temperature between +60 and +90F.
The periscope (head and body assembly) shall be capable of insertion into the
above fixture and secured.  After insertion the periscope shall be subjected
to the sealing test specified in 4.6.14 for a minimum duration of two hours.
The assembly shall meet the requirements of 3.16.2.

5.
5.1 Packaging, packing and marking. Packaging, packing and marking shall
be in accor dance with the applicable packaging data sheet (see 2.1). The
level of protection shall be as specified in the procurement document.
