3.4 Battery lead weld pull test.  The battery assembly lead
welds shall not fail or show any evidence of tearing or breaking
when the leads are subjected to a five (5) pound plus two (2) pounds
pull.
3.5 Battery lead weld integrity.  The battery assembly lead
welds shall not show any evidence of fracture, crack or any damage
to the battery case (hole in case).
3.6 Soldering.
3.6.1 Shorting bar and connector assembly solder workmanship.
Soldering of the shorting bar and connector assembly shall be in
accordance with MIL-S-45743.
3.6.2 Solderability.  The power supply assemblies ribbon leads
shall comply with solderability requirements of MIL-S-45743.
3.7 First article inspection.  When specified in the contract
or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article
(See 4.3)
inspection in accordance with technical provisions herein.
3.8 Workmanship.  All parts and assemblies shall be fabricated
and finished in a thorough workmanlike manner and all manufacturing
processing and assembly operations shall be correctly performed.
All parts shall be free from chips, dirt, grease, corrosion products
and other foreign matter.  The cleaning method used shall not be
injurious to any part nor shall the part be contaminated by the
cleaning agents.  All marking and stamping shall be neat and sharply
defined.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1  Responsibility for inspection.  Unless otherwise specified
in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for
the performance of all inspection requirements as specified
herein.  Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase
order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities
suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements
specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government.  The
Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set
forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed
necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed
requirements.  Unless otherwise specified herein, or in the
contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply, and are hereby
made a part of this detail specification.
