3.7.6 Backlash.
3.7.6.1 Elevation.- Backlash in the elevation mechanism shall not
exceed 0.5 miL at any elevation or correction setting between 230 roils in
depression and 1383 roils in elevation.
3.7.6.2 Crosslevel.- Backlash in the crosslevel mechanism shall not
exceed 0.5 mil at any crosslevel setting between 34 degrees to the right and
34 degrees to the left.
3.8 Excursion range.
3.8.1 Elevation counter.- The elevation counter shall cover an ex-
cursion of at least 1383 roils in elevation and 230 roils in depression (230
roils depression will read 9770 roils on the elevation counter) when the
correction counters read zero.
3.8.2 Correction counter.- The correction counter limit stops shall
allow a minimum of plus 50 and minus 50 roils correction.
3.9 Counter numbers.- Variation in the alignment of the numbers in
any counter shall not exceed one sixteenth inch.
3.10 Operability.- The running torque required to rotate the following
controls at standard ambient temperature shall not exceed the values speci-
fied below:
ten inch-pounds
Elevation knob
three inch-pounds
Correction knob
ten inch-pounds
Crosslevel knob
ten inch-pounds
Boresight adjustment screws
The values obtained when exposed to the extreme temperatures of 3.4.2 shall
not exceed the value contained at standard ambient temperature by more than
one hundred percent.  The toggle switch shall be operable at extreme tempera-
tures.
3.11 Illumination.
3.11.1 Counter numerals.- The counter numerals shall be visible in
all ambient light conditions.
3.11.2 Level vials.- The level vial bubbles shall each be visible in
all ambient light conditions.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection.- Unless otherwise specified in
the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the per-
formance of-all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as
