Heat Dissipation:
3.1.11.6
When heat dissipation is a design factor, consideration shall
be given to the use of finishes providing the best rates of
heat transfer.
Internal Parts:
3.1.11.7
Black or gray paint, or ename1, or clear lacquer may be used
on internal parts and interior surfaces or housings.
3.1.11.8
Magnesium and Magnesium Alloys:
Magnesium and magnesium alloys shall be finished in accordance
with Specification MIL-M-3171.
3.1.11.9
Zinc and Zinc-Plated Parts:
Zinc parts and zinc-plated parts shall be given a dichromate
treatment in accordance with Specification QQ-Z-325.
Other Standard Finishes:
3.1.11.10
Type I finishes in accordance with Specification MIL-F-14072
are approved as alternates to any differing requirements spe-
cified under the paragraphs on finishes, except that colors
specified shall be used.
Fungus-Inert Materials:
3.1.12
Materials which are not nutrients for fungus shall be used to
the greatest extent practicable.
3.1.12.1
The following types of materials shall not be used, except as
specified herein:
Leather
Cotton
Paper and cardboard
Linen
Cork
Cellulose nitrate
Regenerated cellulose
Hair and felts
Wood
