MIL-R-50746(MW
8 August 1973
3.3.1.17 Sight/transmitter beam alignment. The transmitter
beam defined as the center of the 1mil reticle circle, shall be
parallel to the receiver line-of-sight within O. 25 mil.
3.3.1.18 Optical scan angles, The optical scan angles shall be
as follows:
a. Elevation: Plus 20 degrees minimum in elevation and
minus 10 degrees minimum in depression from a
horizontal reference line.
b. Azimuth: 20 degrees minimum total excursion (plus and
minus 10 degrees from a vertical reference line).
3.3.1.19 Image tilt.  The image of a vertical line shall be
vertical within 2 degrees throughout the elevation excursion range.
3.3.1.20  The  target  image'  observed  at  the  eye-
piece shall not shift by more than 2 degrees throughout the elevation
excussion range.
3.3.1.21 Drive train torque and backlash.
3.3.1.21.1 Azimuth.  The azimuth drive train startin torque
shall not exceed 35 ounce-inch (oz-in) when alternately applying torque
in the positive and negative directions to the azimuth positioning shaft
of the receiver -transmitter, and when monitoring for movement of
the scan prism. Backlash ( i.e., the sum of the positive and negative
rotation) during the starting torque shall not exceed 30 degrees.
3. 3.1.21.2 Elevation.  The elevation drive train starting torque
shall not exceed 35 oz-in when applying torque in the positive and negative
directions to the elevation positioning shaft of the receiver-transmitter,
and when monitoring for movement of the scan prism. Backlash during
the starting torque shall not exceed 28 degrees.
