MIL-R-62197A(AT)
3.4.3 Contact characteristics.
3.4.3.1 Rated load. The contacts shall withstand 2.0 amperes (A) resistive at 28 vdc
(see 4.7.5.1).
3.4.3.2 Resistance. The contact resistance shall be not greater than 0.001 ohms
(see 4.7.5.2).
3.4.3.3 Life. The relay contacts shall be capable of 100,000 operations at rated load.
After 100,000 operations, the relay shall meet the contact resistance requirement of 3.4.3.2
(see 4.7.5.3).
3.4.4 Coil characteristics.
3.4.4.1 Current. The relay coil shall have the following characteristics:
Pull in:
Not more than 3.6 mA dc
Not less than 2.5 mA dc
Drop out:
Not more than 1.8 mA dc
Not less than .36 mA dc
The difference between pull in and drop out current shall be not less than 0.7 mA dc
(see 4.7.6.1).
3.4.4.2 Voltage. The relay coil shall be capable of withstanding continuous application
of 18.0 vdc with no adverse effects (see 4.7.6.2).
3.4.5 DC resistance. The coil dc resistance shall be 2000 + 200 ohm at standard ambient
temperature conditions (see 4.7.7).
3.4.6 Inductance. The coil inductance shall be not more than 25 Henries (H) at 60 Hertz
(Hz) (see 4.7.8).
3.4.7 Environmental conditions.
3.4.7.1 Temperature. The relay shall meet the requirements of this specification at
ambient air temperatures ranging from -25 Fahrenheit (F) to 145F. The units shall not be
damaged by storage conditions ranging from -65F to 160F (see 4.7.9.1.1 and 4.7.9.1.2).
3.4.7.2 Vibration. The relay shall be capable of withstanding the vibration profile per
figure 1 for a period of 80 minutes (including up to four resonance dwells of 13-1/3 minutes
each) in each of the three mutually perpendicular axes. Opening of closed contacts, while
energized, shall not exceed 10 milliseconds (ms) (see 4.7.9.2).
