3.4 Rocket motor characteristics.
3.4.1 Visual inspection.  The rocket motor and components shall be
free from visibl e defects (See 4.6.1.)
3.4.2 Welding.  All welding shall be in accordance with the pro-
cedures specified in the applicable weldment drawings.  Melding shall
be performed only by workmen qualified and certified in accordance
with MIL-STD-1595 and MIL-STD-248.
3.4.3 Magnetic particle inspection.  All ferromagnetic parts of the
rocket motor sh all be inspected. Indicated discontinuities shall be
cause for rejection as specified on the applicable drawing (See 4.6.2).
3.4.4 Radiographic inspection.  Propellant grains shall be radio-
graphically inspected.  Deficiencies such as cracks or voids shall
be cause for rejection as specified on the applicable drawings (See
4.6.3).
3.4.5 Nozzle and body hydrostatic proof test. All rocket motor
nozzles and chambers shall be hydrostatically proof tested. The
requirements of OD 14483 shall be met (See 4.6.4).
3.5 Environment.
The rocket motors shall withstand thermal

3.5.2 Vibration.  The rocket motors shall withstand simulated
vibration (See 4.7.3).
3.5.3 Rain, humidity, and salt fog.  The rocket motors shall with-
stand rain, humidi ty, and salt conditions (See 4.7.4).
