3.4.2 Buring time of illuminant charges.  All illuminant
charges shall burn in minimum (min.) of 6.5 seconds, except that the
extinction interval between the third star and the fifth star shall
not exceed 4 seconds.
3.4.3 Hot temperature - (18 to 24C or 65 to 75F).  The
assembly shall function and comply with the requirement of 3.4.1
when tested as specified in 4.5.2.1.
3.4.4 Ambient temperature (70 plus or minus 5 degrees F).  The
signal assemblies shall function and comply with the following when
tested as specified in 4.5.2.2:
a.
The requirements of 3.4.1 and 3.4.2
b.
The illuminant assembly shall not eject at an angle of
more than 30 degrees from the vertical, or emit the
first trace of light at an altitude of less than 500
feet.
c.
The average altitude for all illuminant assemblies
which function above 500 feet shall be not less than
725 feet.
c.
The average angle from the vertical for all illuminant
assemblies which function within the maximum (max)
angle from the vertical (30 degrees) shall be not more
than 12 degrees.
3.3.5 Cold temperature - (-57 to -51C or -70 to -60F).
The signal assemblies shall function and comply with the following
requirements when tested as specified in 4.5.2.3:
a.
The requirements of 3.4.1 and 3.4.2
b.
The average angle from the vertical of the ejected
illuminant assemblies shall be not more than 25
degrees.  The altitude shall be recorded for
informational purposes.
3.5 Leakage.  The sealed metal container shall show no evidence
of leakage when tested as specified in 4.4.3.
3.6 Container tear strip.  The container shall comply with the
requirements of MIL-C-10464 when tested as specified in 4.4.4.
3.7 First article inspection.
This specification makes
provisions for first article inspection.  Requirements for the
submission of first article samples by the contractor shall be as
specified in the contract.
