4.4.2 Examination.
4.4.2.1 Individual.  Each scarifier assembly shall be examined for
the critical defect specified in 4.5.l. Presence of a critical  de-
fect shall be cause for rejection.
4.4.2.2 Samples. Samples selected in accordance with 4.4.1 shall
be examined for the major defects specified in 4.5.1. AQL shall be
2.5 percent defective.
4.4.3 Tests.  Samples selected in accordance with 4.4.1 shall be
tested as specified in 4.5.2.  AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective.
4.5 Inspection procedure.
4.5.l Examination.  Scarifier assemblies shall be examined for
the following defects:
Critical
1.
Dimensional tolerances not as specified in MS39000 for the
type I and in MS39126 for the type II, size 4.
Major
101.
Nonmetallic inclusions.
102.
Segregation.
Cracks.
103.
104.
Seams.
Pipes.
105.
106.
Holes not clean cut.
Laps.
107.
Fins.
108.
Scale.

4.5.2 Tests.
4.5.2.1 Test apparatus. A test stand constructed to include cali-
brated gages for registering pressures convertible to foot-pounds force
and a 50-ton capacity hydraulic jack shall be used for testing aS speci-
fied herein. The type I scarifier assembly shall be tested with a mold-
board bracket welded to the test stand.  The type II scarifier assembly
shall be tested with the scarifier housing welded to the test stand in
proportion to the type yoke to which it will mount.
