Technical society and technical association specifications and standards
are generally available for reference from libraries. They are also
distributed among technical. groups and using Federal agencies.
3.1 Description. The oil-water separator system (hereinafter called
'system") shall be a 5-gpm skid-mounted system consisting of three vessels -
a prefilter vessel and two coalescer vessels connected in series (herein-
after called "separator"); and a 5-gpm air-operated, double-diaphragm supply
pump. The prefilter vessel shall utilize a single expendable prefilter
element (hereinafter called a "refilter"), and the two coalescer vessels
shall each utilize a single expendable filter-coalescer element (hereinafter
called "elements"). The system shall be provided with an automatic oil
discharge system connected to the prefilter vessel and the first coalescer
vessel an automatic water discharge control valve on the system discharge,
and automatic air eliminators installed on top of all three vessels. The
system shall. also be equipped with four panel-mounted pressure gages to
indicate pressure drop across each vessel. This panel shall also include
sampling valves for obtaining samples from the system at the four points
where the pressure taps for the gages are located, a rate-of-flow indicator
