determined with the vehicle stationary and the pumping system operating at a maximum engine
governed speed and maximum load. The plate shall conform to 3.1.1.8.
3.16.2.2 Exhaust system. The exhaust system shall be furnished with a spark arresting
muffler. The muffler shall have a heat shield. The tailpipe shall be pointed toward the rear end
and to the ground. The spark arrester shall have an 80 percent arresting efficiency when rated in
accordance with SAE J350.
*  3.16.2.3 Lights. In addition to the other lighting specified herein, lights with guards and

effectively seal the tank and shall be of a type permitting complete removal of the valve body.
Controls with slotted stops to hold the outlet valve at various openings shall be furnished and
located in the manifold cabinet. The outlet valve shall have a screen of small mesh that will not
unduly restrict the flow of water through the discharge piping. The screen shall be readily
removable for cleaning and shall be located on the inside of the tank over the valve mechanism.
3.16.4 Manifold. A manifold shall be provided having 75 mm (3-inch) gate valves and with
cam-locking connections designed to fit the hoses specified herein, arranged to provide the
following:
(a)
Gravity discharge of tank contents, bypassing the pump.
(b)
Pressure discharge of tank contents by use of the pump unit.
(c)
Filling of the tank through the filler opening, by utilizing the pump unit and the hoses
specified herein, from a non-pressurized source.
