4.7.8.1 Brake operation test. To determine conformance to 3.4.14 and 3.4.14.1, the
semitrailer service brakes, parking brake and emergency brakes and air lines shall be operated to
assure operation to specified requirements. The 10% slope is not required for this test. Air leaks
are no allowed.
4.7.8.2 Brake system test. To determine conformance to 3.4.1.4 through 3.4.14.3, and 3.5.5,
the brake system and air lines shall be operated and tested to assure operation to specified
requirements. Air leaks are not allowed.
4.7.9 Kingpin check. To determine conformance to 3.4.11, the kingpin shall be checked for
proper installation and conformance to specified requirements.
4.7.10 Upper fifth wheel plate check. The upper fifth wheel plate shall be checked for proper
installation and conformance to requirements specified by 3.4.11.1.
4.7.11 Lift fitting check. The lift fitting shall be checked for proper installation and
conformance to requirements specified by 3.4.21.
4.7.11.1 Lift fitting test. The lift fitting shall be tested for conformance to the requirements
specified by 3.4.21.
4.7.12 Frame check. To determine conformance to 3.4.4, 3.4.5, and 3.4.6, the frame shall be
checked for proper construction, as specified. Welds shall be visually checked to the free of slag,
spatter, undercut porosity, lack of fusion, cracks, and other similar defects.
4.7.12.1 Frame test. The frame shall be tested, to determine conformance to 3.2.3.1, 3.4.4,
3.4.5, and 3.4.6.
4.7.13 Storage area check. To determine conformance to 3.4.10, the storage area shall be
checked for the requirements specified.
4.7.14 BII check. The BII shall be checked to determine conformance to the requirements
specified by 3.4.2 through 3.4.2.3.
4.7.15 Reserved.
4.7.16 Floor. To determine conformance to 3.4.8, flooring shall be checked for proper
installation and conformance to specified requirements.
4.7.17 Stake pockets. To determine conformance to 3.4.18, stake pockets shall be checked
for proper construction, installation, and conformance to specified requirements.
4.7.18 Outriggers. To determine conformance to 3.4.19, the outriggers shall be checked for
proper operation, construction, and conformance to specified requirements.
