MIL-S-83427(USAF)
force is applied. A SO-pound internal upward force shall be applied to the
center of the survival kit container lid. A 25-pound force at 120 degrees to
the top of the main compartment shall be applied at both sides of the survival
kit container at the attaching hardware. This test shall be repeated for a
total of five tests. The CNU-130/P survival kit container-to-man disconnect of
the oxygen system shall release slightly before the side attachment straps and
shall not restrict the handle mechanism from completing a full stroke.
4.6.3.2 Emergency ground egress. The dropline connecting plunger device shall
be depressed to simulate installation in an ejection seat. The operating handle
of the survival kit container shall unlock with a pull of 20 pounds (plus or
minus 5 pounds). Separation of the container shall then occur when a maximum
force of 15 pounds, except during and after the tests described under 4.6.2, is
applied to the operating handle. During and after the tests described under
4,6.2, the maximum force shall be 30 pounds. The operating handle shall separate
completely from the survival kit container when this force is applied. The
dropline shall be locked to the portion of the hardware remaining with the sur-
vival kit container. This test shall be repeated for-a total of ten operations.
A 15-pound load applied in accordance with 4.6.13.1.2 shall be used on each
parachute attachment, and a SO-pound internal upward force shall be applied to
the center of the survival kit container lid. The ONU-130/P survival kit
container-to-man disconnect of the oxygen system shall release slightly before
the side attachment straps and shall not restrict the handle mechanism from
completing a full stroke.
4.6.3.3 Automatic operation The override selector lever shall be moved to
the up position. A 50-pound upward internal force shall be applied to the center
of the lid. An upward 25-pound force, directed 30 degrees aft of normal to the
top of the lid, shall be applied to each of the survival kit container attachment
snaps. The dropline connecting plunger device shall be extended, simulating
seat separation. The parachute deployment sensing cable assembly shall be operated
in a random direction simulating parachute deployment. The cable assembly shall
operate and separate from the automatic actuator by a force not to exceed SO
pounds applied at the canopy riser fitting. The automatic actuator shall fire the
cartridge and the survival kit container hardware shall be operated 4 seconds
(plus or minus 1 second) later. The operating mechanism shall be detented in the
operated position. The cartridge may be simulated for the quality conformance
tests only.
4.6.4 Interchangeability of critical parts. Functional interchangeability of
the lids, the cushions, the operating handles, and survival kit container
attaching hardware shall be determined by interchanging each item on four con-
tainers and actuating for one test each in accordance with 4.6.3.l and 4.6.3.2.
