3.6.9 Running Engagement.  The starter/AP shall suffer no
detrimental effects when subjected to running engagements at any
output speed up to starter cutoff speed.
3.6.10 External Surface Temperature.  The external surface
temperature of the starter/APU shall not exceed 500F during or
following any required operating condition.  Provisions necessary
to meet this requirement shall be integral with the starter and
shall not require detachable insulating covers.
3.6.11 Leakage.  There shall be no leakage of fluids or gases
from the starter/APU other than gases from air exhaust and air
inlet during or following operation.  The allowable oil leakage
at the output drive shall not exceed 10CC per hour.
3.6.12 Drainage.  The starter/APU shall incorporate provisions
to drain all liquids from air intake, exhaust duct and combustor
to prevent accumulations that would adversely affect operation.
In addition, fuel manifolds and seals may be drained as required.
All drainage shall be collected and piped in accordance with
Figures 1 thru 4.
3.6.13 Handling Supports.  The starter/APU shall incorporate
provisions for carrying, cradling, hoisting and resting the unit
on a level surface without damaging lines, cable, fittings, or
components attached to the surface of the unit.
3.6.14 Accessibility.  Parts of the starter/APU that require
routine service checking or replacement shall be readily
accessible for servicing and replacement without disassembly of
the unit or removal of any major part, component, or accessory.
3.6.15 Environmental Requirements.
3.6.15.1 Temperature.  The starter/APU shall withstand and/or
operate in the following temperature environments:
Engine start -15F (-26C) and 122F (50C)
a.
APU operation -15F (-26C) to 122F (50C)
b.
Overrunning operation from -15F (-26C) to 200F (93C)
c.
Not operating from -65F (-54C) to 200F (93C)
d.
3.6.15.2 Altitude.  The starter/APU shall meet the starter
performance requirements herein from sea level to 8000 feet, the
APU requirements herein from sea level to 31,000 feet and shall
satisfactorily withstand overrunning from sea level to 50,000 ft.
