MIL-S-85419 (AS)
4.5.2.6 Translation Cycles.  The starter/APU shall be subjected
to translation from APU mode to main engine starting upon the
conclusion of each APU operational cycle as specified in
paragraph 4.5.2.
4.5.3 Surface Temperature.  During the initial portion of the
verification test, a surface temperature survey shall be
conducted during cycling, rapid cycling, and cranking at ambient
temperature,  After determining the hottest areas on the
starter/APU exterior surface, these areas will be monitored
throughout the test for compliance with 3.6.10.  Unless otherwise
specified, maximum surface temperature during and after shall be
recorded for every twenty fifth cycle during the endurance test.
4.5.4 Leakage.  During all verification test operations, checks
shall be conducted for leakage of fuel, exhaust gas and
lubricant.
Evidence shall be obtained to verify compliance with
leakage requirements of 3.6.11.
4.5.5 Shock Tests.  The starter/APU shall be attached to the
test fixture by the mounting means used in the service
installation plus all electrical cables and any other connections
necessary for proper operation.  The starter shall be subjected
to three shocks in each direction on each of three mutually
perpendicular axes.  The shock waveform shall consist of ramp
input with a peak amplitude of 20g's and a nominal duration of 11
milliseconds.  The peak amplitude must be within 10% of the
specified value measured with a 250 Hz low pass filter.  The
duration must be within 1 millisecond.
If the electrical
controls are separately mounted, they shall be shock tested
separately in their service mounting with electrical cables
attached.
4.5.6 Vibration.  The vibration test shall be conducted in
accordance with the method and procedure as follows:
4.5.6.1 Method.  The starter/APU shall be tested as a complete
assembly.  Before and after this test, a calibration shall
indicate that no component subject to calibration has changed its
calibration beyond the design tolerance range.  All components
not subject to calibration shall be operated and shall not have
had any part of their function impaired by the test.
4.5.6.2 Procedure.
The following procedure shall apply:
4.5.6.2.1 Test Installation.  The starter/APU shall be mounted
on a test fixture to simulate aircraft installed position.  The
test fixture shall be as rigid as possible and designed to
eliminate or minimize fixture resonances in the test frequency
range.  The test configuration shall be such that rotational
