4.3.4 Examination. Upon completion of testing the hoist-haul unit, the first production
vehicle of each type shall be subjected to examination. The vehicle, with all equipment,
components, accessories and container furnished for the test shall be examined for damage. The
applicable hoist-haul unit shall be examined for damage, leakage (lubricant, hydraulic or air),
evidence of distortion, permanent deformation or other malfunctions.
4.3.5 Production sample. Upon acceptance of the first production vehicle of each type and
class, it shall remain at the manufacturing facility as a production sample and shall be the last
vehicle shipped on the contract. The contractor shall maintain the vehicle in a serviceable
condition for the duration of the contract.
*  4.3.6 Failure. Failure of the first production vehicle(s) to meet the requirements of the
contract shall be cause for the Government to refuse acceptance of all vehicles under the contract
until corrective action has been taken.
4.4 Production vehicle inspection. Each production vehicle shall be subjected to dimensional
inspection and operational tests (less payload) as specified in section 3. The vehicle, hoist-haul
unit and associated controls shall be operated to the extent necessary to verify compliance with
contractual requirements. The contractor's inspection system, as a minimum, shall assure that the
vehicle and attached equipment conforms to the dimensional and operational requirements and the
vehicle is capable of meeting the requirements herein. For each vehicle under contract, the
contractor shall make available to the Government, at the point of final acceptance, records
acceptable to the Government indicating that the servicing and adjusting required by 3.6 have
been accomplished.
*  4.5 Contractor's records. The contractor's inspection records as required by the contract shall
show the results of the first production vehicle inspection and tests and subsequent production
vehicle inspections and tests. The records shall show the actual findings and any corrective action
taken. The records shall be complete, traceable to the applicable vehicle and available to the
Government. Inspection and test records shall be signed and dated by a person specifically
assigned by the contractor, after satisfactory completion of each inspection or test. The
Government will countersign this record after satisfactory completion of the first production
vehicle inspection.
