All ferrous items such as screws, bolts, nuts, and washers
shall be cadmium plated in accordance QQ-P-416, Type II or III, as applicable,
or zinc plated in accordance with QQ-Z-325.

alloy parts and surfaces shall be cleaned in accordance with MIL-S-5002, A
corrosion-preventive chemical film conforming to MIL-C-5541, followed by a
primer coating conforming to MIL-P-8585, shall then be applied,
Magnesium alloy - Magnesium alloy parts shall not be used

unless specifically approved for each individual application by the procuring ac-
tivity. When magnesium alloy parts are used they shall be cleaned and chemically
treated in accordance with MIL-M-3171. Two primer coatings in accordance with
MIL-P-8585 shall then be applied,
Other surfaces - Other types of surfaces shall be cleaned

and chemically treated in accordance with MIL-T-704. A primer coating con-
forming to MIL-P-8585 shall then be applied,
Finish coatings - Exterior surfaces of the test equipment

shall be finished with two coats of enamel as specified in the detail specification.
The external color shall be semi-gloss light green number 24441 conforming to
FED-STD-595. Interior surfaces shall be finished with two coats of enamel as
specified in the detail specification. The internal color shall be either glossy
white number 17875 or light gray number 16492 conforming to FED-STD-595.

Identification of product - The test equipment shall be mark-
ed for identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130 and the following subpara-
graphs.
Vendor's nameplate - The vendor's standard nameplate

may also be installed in addition to the marking specified in the detail specifica-
tion.
Placards - A placard shall be permanently mounted on the

panel listing all valves, gages, outlets, connections, and controls identified by
name and number. The same numbers shall be shown on the flow diagram and
other data furnished with the test unit.
Service lines - Steam, water, air, and drain lines shall be

marked at entrance to the equipment and shall be located at the rear of the test
equipment unit.
