4.5.2 Acceptance tests (100 percent). Each vehicle presented for acceptance shall be
subjected to the acceptance tests specified in table XIX. After the tests, the vehicle shall be
examined for evidence of fuel or lubricant leakage or any other deficiencies.
4.5.3 Control tests. Control tests shall be conducted on the first vehicle off the production
line, or one of the first 10 vehicles produced, and thereafter one per month or one vehicle per
100 produced. The vehicle shall be subjected to the control tests specified in table XIX at the
manufacturer's facility.
4.5.4 Comparison tests. The Government may select vehicles anytime during the contract
production period and subject these vehicles to tests specified in table XIX to reveal deficiencies
of manufacture or design that may reduce the effective operation of these items in the field and
to compare existing quality with previous standards. These tests shall be conducted over the
course specified in table XXI at Government laboratories or proving grounds designated by the
contracting officer. Selection of vehicles shall be on a random basis. Comparison test vehicles
shall be combat loaded with all BII stowed in their applicable spaces to conform to 3.3.8.
Vehicles selected shall not include any vehicle previously tested for conformance to 4.5.3.

4.5.5 Failure. Failure of any vehicle to pass any of the specified inspections shall be cause
for the Government to refuse acceptance of the production quantity represented, until action
taken by the contractor to correct defects and prevent recurrence has been approved by the
Government.
4.6 Methods of inspection.
4.6.1 Materials. Conformance to 3.2 shall be determined by inspection of contractor records
providing proof or certification that design, construction, processing, and materials conform to
requirements. Applicable records shall include drawings, specifications, design data, receiving
inspection records, processing and quality control standards, vendor catalogs and certifications,
industry standards, test reports, and rating data.
