MIL-T-46385A(MU)
3.5 Vibration. - The telescope shall be vibrated at a constant frequency
of 30 cycles per second with an amplitude of 1/16 inch (1/8 inch total ex-
cursion) for a period of 5 minutes 15 seconds. Subsequent ot vibration,
the telescope shall show no evidence of damage or physical failure and shall
meet the requirements of 3.6 to 3.10 inclusive.
3.6 Cleanliness. - The telescope shall meet the cleanliness requirements
of Specification MIL-O-13830, and there shall be no more than two particles
of dirt visible on the surfaces of the sliding reticle, and no more than
two particles of dirt visible on the surfaces of the reticle lens (a total
quantity of four particles on both optical elements). Each particle shall not
be in excess of an area equivalent to a size ten dig. There shall be no
dirt on other surfaces which interferes with observation or adversely
effects image quality.
3.7 Sealing. - The telescope shall show no evidence of leakage when
subjected to an internal pressure of dry nitrogen at 5 psig for five minutes.
The interior atmosphere of the accepted telescope shall contain nitrogen
(dewpoint of nitrogen shall be at least as low as -25F) at a pressure of
between 0.1 and 0.25 psig.
3.8 Accuracy.
3.8.1 Orientation. - With the telescope mounted on the front mounting
surface and the rear angular locating surface of the ojective tube housing,
the plane of the objective tube and the locating key shall be horizontal.
3.8.2 Collimation.
3.8.2.1 Reticle lens. - The extreme left and- right zero graduations
shall coincide with a horizontal target line 20 mils above the geometric
axis of the objective tube with + 0.5 mil. The vertical line of the HEXM482
ballistic data on the reticle lens shall be 36.5 mils 3 mils in azimuth
from the boresight cross of the sliding reticle at the zero elevation position.
3.8.2.2 Sliding reticle. - With the telescope positioned as in 3.8.1
and the horizontal line of the boresight cross in coincidence with the zero
graduation on the extreme right, the horizontal line shall be in coincidence
with the zero graduation on the extreme left with 0.2 mil; the line of sight
through the boresight cross shall be parallel in azimuth to the geometric
axis of the objective tube within 0.5 mil.
3.8.3 Eyepiece focus. - The eyepiece focus shall be adjustable over
the range of plus and minus four diopters as read on the diopter scale. The
zero of the diopter scale shall indicate zero diopters within 0.25 diopter.
3.8.4 Reticle accuracy. - The angular values, between the zero and
maximum scale graduations for each of the three scales on the reticle lens
shall be as indicated on the applicable drawings within 3.0 percent.
