4.6 Test methods and procedures. - Unless specified within shall
be tested between 15C (60F) and 32C (90F). The rate of temperature
change shall not exceed 2C (3.6F) per minute.
4.6.1 Interchangeability. - The three artillery trainers shall be
selected to perform the interchangeability tests. The three trainers
shall be disassembled into major components, and randomly assembled to
determine compliance with 3.3.
4.6.2 Operating temperature. - Perform this test in accordance
with temperature cycling, Procedure I of MIL-F-13926, except with
conditions of -18C (0F) and 38C (100F) to determine compliance with
3.5.1.10 allow temperature to stabilize for at least two hours before
performing test 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12.
4.6.3 Operating humidity. - This test shall be performed as speci-
fied in MIL-STD-810, Method 507.1, Procedure IV, except perform only two
cycle while testing 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12 to determine compliance with
3.5.1.2.
4.6.4 Storage temperature. - Perform this test in accordance with
temperature cycling. Procedure I of MIL-F-13926, except with conditions
of -54C (-65F) and 66C (150F) to determine compliance with 3.5.2.1.
subsequent to this test the unit shall meet 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12. This
test may be performed in conjunction with 4.6.2.
4.6.5 Vibration "A". - This test shall be performed on the deflec-
tor optical assembly F11746410 only. The deflector assembly shall be
mounted on a M55 Laser gunnery trainer with the laser tube removed and
the M55 mounted in the Vibration and Shock Adapter D11748410. The test
shall be performed in accordance with Method 514.2 of MIL-STD-810,
Procedure VIII, Curve V, Figure 514.2-6, Table 514.2-VI with a vehicle
mileage of 3000 miles. Subsequent to this test, the unit shall be
subjected to 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12 to determine compliance with 3.5.2.2.
4.6.6 Vibration "B". - This test shall be performed on the storage
case and all its contents. The storage case shall be steel banded to at
least three 4" x 4" wooden rails which are mounted to the vibration table.
This test shall be performed in accordance with Method 514.2 of MIL-STD-
810, Procedure X, Curve AY, Table 514.2-VII, Figure 514.2-7 for four
cycles with the unit properly stored in the transit and storage case.
Subsequent to this test, the unit shall be subject to 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12
to determine compliance with 3.5.2.3.
4.6.7 Shock. - This test shall be performed on the deflector assemb-
ly only as specified in MIL-STD-810, Method 516.2, Procedure I, Fig.
516.2-1, shock parameters (a) and (c), Procedure II limited to 76 centimeters
(30 inches) and V. subsequent to this test, the unit shall be subjected
to 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12 to determine compliance with 3.5.2.4. In performing
procedure I the unit shall be mounted as in paragraph 4.6.5.
4.6.8 Sunshine. - This test shall be performed as specified in
MIL-STD-81O, Method 505.2 Procedure I. Subsequent to this test the unit
shall be tested to 4.6.10 thru 4.6.12 and subjected to a visual examination
to determine compliance with 3.5.2.5.
