MIL-T-48604(MU)
4.5.4.2 Burn-in encapsulated. - To determine compliance with 3.5.2,
utilize a power supply simulating the Power Supply Module F11739861.
Operate the tube assembly through 24 cycles of 50 minutes on and 10 minu-
tes off. Subsequent to the burn-in test the tube assembly shall be sub-
jected to all of the tests in 4.7 to determine compliance with the re-
quirements of 3.7, 3.8 and 3.9.
4.6 Environmental tests. - To determine compliance with all of the
requirements of 3.6 the tube assembly shall be subjected to the tests
specified in 4.6.1 through 4.6.5. There shall be no evidence of corona
when the laser tube is subjected to each of the specified environmental
test. Data shall be recorded prior to operation, during operation and
post operation in accordance with all of the environment test procedures
specified herein. Available post-test data may be used as pretest data
for the succeeding test. Complete environmental test data shall be re-
corded and submitted as a part of reliability data.
4.6.1 Storage and operating temperature. - TO determine compliance
with 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 this test shall be performed in accordance with MIL-
STD-81O, Method 501 and 502, Procedure I respectively. Prior to this
test the tube assemblies shall have successfully passed the performance
tests of 4.7.1 through 4.7.4. The tube assemblies shall be place in
the temperature chamber. The chamber temperature shall be lowered to the
storage temperature or -65F and remain at this extreme temperature for
at least 24 hours. The chamber temperature shall then be raised to the
operating temperature of 0F and remain at this temperature for at least
four hours. While the tube assemblies are 0F they shall be subjected to
performance tests of 4.7.1 through 4.7.4. After the tube assemblies have
successfully passed the performance tests, they shall be energized and re-
main on throughout the period that the chamber is raised from 0F to 100F.
During the period they are energized, power output of the laser beam shall
be monitored to determine compliance with the requirement of 3.7.3. When
the chamber temperature reaches the storage temperature of +155F, the
chamber shall remain at this temperature for not less than 24 hours. The
chamber temperature shall then be lowered to the operating temperature of
100F and remain at this temperature for not less than four hours. The
tube assemblies shall again be subjected to the operational test 4.7.1
through 4.7.4. After being subjected to these performance tests the cham-
ber shall be returned to room ambient temperature while the tube assem-
blies are energized and the output power shall be monitored. At room
ambient temperature the tube assemblies shall be subjected to all of the
performance tests of 4.7 to determine compliance with the requirements
of 3.7.
4.6.2 Vibration. - To determine compliance with 3.6.3, the test shall
be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-810, Method 514.1, Procedure VIII,
Figure 514.1-6 Curve "Y" and the conditions specified in 3.6.3. During vi-
bration, the tube assemblies shall be energized and the power output moni-
tored. Subsequently, the tube shall be subjected to the performance test
of 4.5.4.1 and 4.7.1 through 4.7.6, inclusive to determine compliance with
the requirements of 3.5.1 and 3.7.1 through 3.7.6.
