4.4.4 Classification of defects.

4.4.5 Pump leakage test. The pump shall be subjected to specified internal
hydrostatic pressure for a period of 30 + 1 or - 0 minutes and observed for
leakage (see 6.4).
PACKAGING
5.
5.1 Cleaning and drying.  The hydraulic pump assembly and other kit compo-
nents shall be cleaned and dried in accordance with MIL-P-116, using method C-1
and any of the drying methods listed therein.
5.2 Preservation and packaging.
Level shall be as specified (see 6.2).
5.2.1 Level A.  Unless otherwise specified, preservatives and the applica-
tion thereof and packaging methods shall conform to MIL-P-116.
5.2.1.1  Hydraulic pump assembly.  The pump assembly, less gage, bleeder
valve, pipe elbow, nipple, pump lever handle and pressure relief valve lever
shall be preserved by lubricating the hydraulic pump in accordance with the
s
manufacturer instructions and coating the interior of the hydraulic storage
tank with type P-9 preservative.  Fill the tank with preservative and then
drain and coat the fill and drain plugs with the same type preservative and
replace plugs and tighten.  Other threaded openings in the pump shall be coated
with preservative and the openings closed with plastic caps or plugs or with
tape Conforming to type optional, class 1 of PPP-T-60. All unpainted exterior
metal surfaces of the pump shall be coated with P-9 preservative.
5.2.1.2 Valve and hose assembly.  The valve attached to the hose and the
hose fittings shall have both internal and external surfaces coated with P-9
preservative.
