4.3.2.14 Noise level testing requirements. The equipment noise level at operator's station and
all immediate occupied areas shall not exceed 85dB(A) when tested in accordance with the
requirements of 5.1 of MIL-STD-1474. The data shall include dB(A) levels taken at the
operator's station and all occasionally occupied positions. Exterior noise levels for drive-by shall
not exceed 88dB(A) when tested in accordance with the requirements of 5.1 and 5.2 of
SAE J1077. If the data exceeds the limits specified in category D, table 2 of MIL-STD-1474, for
equipment noise level, or 88dB(A) for drive-by, the contractor shall reduce the noise level or
provide documentation verifying that compliance is either technically or economically unfeasible.
4.3.2.14.1 Failure criteria. Failure to reduce the noise level or provide documentation
verifying that compliance is either technically or economically unfeasible shall constitute failure of
this test.
4.4 Quality conformance inspection.
4.4.1 Examination. Each truck-mounted mixer shall be examined for the following
characteristics. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
