3.5.7 Air conditioning. The vehicle shall be equipped with an air conditioning unit that
is functionally compatible with the wind deflector fairing as specified in 3.5.2.2. The unit shall
be a 28,000 Btu per hour cooing/177,065 Btu per hour electric resistance heating unit rated for
208/230 volts, 60 Hz. The unit shall be shockmounted, properly framed and supported, and
connected with ceiling mounted ducts with adjustable air diffusers throughout the body interior.
The unit shall be thermostatically controlled. The unit shall be of sufficient capacity to maintain
an evenly circulated cooling temperature of 72F maximum in 95F ambient air temperature. A
flexible tube shall be installed at the front bulkhead to carry condensate run-off directly to the
ground. A rustproof metal dust shield shall be installed in front of the air conditioner intake.
3.5.8 Heating. A total of two electric fan blower heaters, 3,4000 Btu minimum,
240-volt, 60-Hz ac, shall be installed in the ceiling above the curbside doors. A thermostatically
controlled, electric heater with blower, rated at 6,800 Btu per hour minimum shall be provided at
each of two selected interior locations. The electric fan blower heater shall be capable of
maintaining the inside vehicle body temperature at a minimum of plus 70F midway between
floor and ceiling in an outside ambient temperature of 0F with no occupants.
3.5.9 Plumbing. A plumbing system shall be installed and shall include a 20-gallon fresh
water tank, a 20-gallon waste water tank with hose connection (see 3.5.10.4(c)), an electric hot
water heater installed at the sink, and a 12 volt, heavy duty water pump. The plumbing system
shall be designed to receive water directly from local sources or from the installed water tank.
Plumbing fixtures, devices and appurtenances shall be supplied with water in sufficient volume
and at pressures adequate to enable them to function satisfactorily and without undue noise,
leakage or loss of pressure. The plumbing drain system shall be installed to prevent any leakage
(see 4.4.5.5 and 4.4.5.6). The fresh water tank shall be installed under the counter or within a
heated skirt compartment for protection against freezing. An exterior water fill shall be provided
for the fresh water tank. The plumbing system shall be equipped with check valves in accordance
with approved commercial practice. One 50-foot fresh water hose and one 50-foot waste water
hose shall be provided and shall be of different sizes to prevent intermix. One 5-gallon G.I. water
can shall be provided for emergency use.
3.5.10 Interior furnishings. The interior furnishings shall include but not limited to the
following features.
