3.5.1.2 Curbside rear seat door(s). Split type double doors shall be provided on the
curbside for exit and entrance of rear seat passengers. Safety glass windows shall be provided.
3.5.1.3 Rear doors. Split-type double rear doors with safety glass in the upper section of
the doors shall be provided for the cargo area. Rear door windows shall be covered on the
interior with security grill constructed of 13 mm (0.50 inch) flattened expanded metal. The grills
shall be furnished with a frame and shall be hinged. The grills shall be attached to the inside of
the rear door window frames in a manner which will prevent outside intrusion but will allow
inside cleaning of the window glass. A cam-type latch shall be installed to retain the grill to the
rear door window frame.
3.5.2 Vehicle interior trim. A headliner with commercial type insulation shall be furnished
throughout the vehicle. The interior sides throughout the vehicle engine cover housing, doors,
and the fire wall shall be provided with standard commercial type insulation and cover panels.
Side panels shall be finish painted. A floor mat for the driver's area and the passenger area shall
be furnished.
*  3.5.2.1 Insulation. Insulation shall be provided. Ceiling, walls, engine cover, doors and
front cowl or firewall shall be insulated. Insulation shall include the driver's, passenger's, and
cargo areas. Insulation shall not creep or peel when subjected to -46C (-50F) to 52C (125F).
Adhesive used shall be compatible to the insulation material and capable of accepting extreme
ambient temperatures. Insulation shall be fire retardant and shall not disperse toxic gases. The
floor mat shall be provided with insulation.
*  3.5.2.1.1 Liner. A liner shall be secured over the insulation. Liner shall match the color of
the vehicle interior.
3.5.3 Seating. Seating shall be provided for the driver and assistant driver. A
manufacturer's standard bench type seat with seat back shall be furnished and the seat shall be
capable of being removed. Upholstery weave, type, texture and color shall be identical and shall
harmonize with the vehicle paint color. Bench type seat shall be positioned to the rear of the
driver and assistant driver (see figures 2, 3 and 4).
3.5.3.1 Rear bench seat. A rear bench seat with back and capable of accommodating three
personnel shall be provided. With the front seat(s) adjusted to the extreme forward position there
shall be not less than 760 mm (30 inches), measured in a horizontal plane, between the front of
the crew seat back and rear of the front seat backs. A kickspace height of not less than 70 mm
(2.75 inches) shall be maintained between the floor and the rear of the front seats in all positions
of adjustment. Leg room and space forward of the front seats shall not be reduced from that
which is normally furnished. The seat assembly shall be removable by the manufacturer's
standard method.
