(f) One crank for topping lift winch
(g) Two 13 mm (1/2-inch) (for size 16T wreckers) or two 16 m (5/8-inch) (for all other size
wreckers), high-test, bright zinc steel safety chains, each 3660 mm (12 feet) long, with a
clevis at one end for attaching the chain to an eye on the boom; with a grab hook with
spring loaded safety latch on the other end for attaching the chain to a vehicle being
towed
(h) Three emergency reflective triangles conforming to Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulation 393.95(f)(2)(i)
(i) A steel stowage box or compartment conforming to 3.5.13(g)
(j) A towing sling conforming to 3.5.13(h).

3.6.13 Type II electrical accessories. The following electrical accessories shall be installed:
(a) Two swivel type, sealed-beam floodlights as specified in 3.5.14(a)
(b) Undercarriage mounted work light(s) as specified in 3.5.14(b)
(c) In addition to the brake lights specified in 3.1.1.15, two elevated brake lights actuated
upon application of the service brakes. Brake lights shall be suspended from the mast and
shall be located approximately 1270 mm (50 inches) on center
(d) An amber, rotating, vehicular warning light conforming to MS 51317-4. The rotating
light shall be mounted with reinforcement at point of attachment on vehicle centerline for
360-degree visibility. The warning light shall be operated by means of a separate switch
with an indicator light located on the instrument panel and marked to indicate the
function of the switch
(e) Auxiliary safety light kit conforming to 3.5.14(d)
(f) Wiring conforming to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations 393.27 and 393.28.
3.6.14 Rear-mounted winch. When specified (see 6.2), a winch shall be located at the center
of the body to the rear of the boom masts. The winch shall be mechanical or hydraulic motor
driven. The winch mountings shall be capable of withstanding all loads imposed. The winch shall
conform to SAE J706 and shall have a single line pull of not less than 89 kN (20,000 pounds) on a
bare drum. The winch shall be wound with not less than 61 m of 16 mm (200 feet of 5/8-inch)
diameter, preformed, 6x37, improved plow steel, independent wire rope core (IWRC) and shall be
equipped with an end chain and hook. A roller guide shall be furnished to the rear of the winch to
control pay in and pay out of wire rope over rear of wrecker body. Controls shall be located as
specified in 3.6.7.
3.7 Workmanship. Defective components or parts and assemblies which have been repaired
or modified to overcome deficiencies shall not be furnished. Welded, bolted and riveted
construction utilized shall be in accordance with the highest standards of the industry. Vehicles
shall have a quality appearance. Doors, hoods and compartment openings shall not have
excessive gaps in the fit of the item. Paint shall be uniform without runs or sags.
