of cooling system in accordance with 3.4.23.1; and servicing of the windshield washer reservoir
with water and appropriate additives. Cable, where used, shall be lubricated with proper
lubricants to resist corrosion.
*  3.4.23.1 Engine coolant. The engine coolant shall be a solution of ethylene glycol antifreeze
and water or propylene glycol antifreeze and water, in equal parts of antifreeze and water by
volume. Ethylene glycol antifreeze shall conform to ASTM D 4985 with not more than
250 parts per million silicates. Propylene glycol antifreeze shall be in the specific formulation
approved by the engine and cooling system manufacturers. When specified (see 6.2), the
percentage of antifreeze in the cooling system shall be increased to provide protection against
freezing down to -54C (-65F).
3.5 Body. The vehicle shall be equipped with a line maintenance and construction type body
having the minimum dimensions and loading requirements specified in table XIII for the
applicable cab-to-axle (see 3.2.8, table VI). The minimum cabinet space length in table XIII, for
vehicles with a crew cab, shall be increased not less than 890 mm (35 inches) unless the
outriggers are mounted ahead of the cabinet space just behind the crew cab. The body shall
include weatherproof cabinets on each side of a center loadspace with a front bulkhead, a
hydraulically operated aerial platform assembly, and other equipment specified herein. Cabinet
space may be utilized to accommodate hinged type outriggers or access steps. Cabinet areas are
cut to provide clearance for A-frame telescopic type outriggers shall be covered with sheet metal
to provide a completely enclosed and weatherproof cabinet. Safety tread steel or aluminum plate
shall be furnished on the top of the cabinets, the floor and the platform extension.
