MIL-T-62518A
hydraulic fluid pressure from the hydraulic system of the aerial platform. Discharge port(s) and
return port(s) shall be provided with a corrosion-resistant cap, secured with a corrosion-resistant
chain or cable, to protect the threads and the valve from contamination. A tool circuit with quick
disconnect, dripless couplers shall be furnished for attaching the pressure and return hose lines
for the motor driven hydraulic tools. The oil flow for the tools shall be regulated by control
valve(s) to meet the flow requirements of the hydraulic tools. The high system pressure
(working pressure) shall be not less than 1,600 psi and the back pressure in the return line shall
not exceed 1030 kN/m (150 psi).
3.6.11.1.1 Basket hydraulic tool outlet and hose. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), a
hydraulic tool outlet shall be furnished in the basket(s). An 2440 mm (8-foot) dual hydraulic
hose for use in the basket(s) shall be furnished. The hose shall be of the flexible, nonconductive
type with quick disconnect dripless fittings on each end. Hose fittings shall be compatible with
the basket outlet and the tools specified in 3.6.11.3 through 3.6.11.9. The hose ends shall be
provided with dust caps.
*  3.6.11.2 Ground tool hose. Except when a ground hydraulic tool outlet is not required
(see 3.6.11.1), or when a hydraulic hose reel is specified (see 3.6.11.11), two 15 m (50-foot)
lengths of hydraulic wire braid hoses with quick disconnect, dripless couplers on both ends, for
use at ground level, shall be furnished. Warning plate markings (see 3.1.1.2.1) shall warn that
the wire braid hydraulic hoses shall not be used on or near electrical lines. The hoses shall be
furnished with dust caps. Hose fittings shall be compatible with the tool outlet specified in
3.6.11.1 and the tools specified in 3.6.11.3 through 3.6.11.9.
*  3.6.11.3 Hydraulic capstan hoist. When specified (see 6.2), a hydraulic capstan hoist shall
be furnished. The drum shall be one-direction drive and shall have a backstop on the output
shaft to prevent reverse travel. (Lowering will be accomplished by letting the rope slip on the
drum.) The capstan hoist shall be complete with a link chain and screw clamp attachment device
for mounting to surfaces other than on a round pole. The hoist shall have a rated single line pull
capacity of not less than 567 kg (1,250 pounds) on the bare drum. The hoist shall have a remote
control, foot-operated, open-center valve.
*  3.6.11.4 Hydraulic impact wrench and drill. When specified (see 6.2), a hydraulic impact
wrench and drill shall be furnished. This combination tool shall be reversible and capable of
installing or removing lag screws and other hardware. The tool shall have a capacity for
1.063 inch drills, for 16 mm (0.625 inch) bolts, and shall include a 13 mm (0.5 inch) square drive
socket. The tool shall be capable of developing not less than 200 foot- pounds of torque with at
least 1,350 impacts per minute. A quick change drill chuck shall be furnished.
