Order o f precedence In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the ref-

erences cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence, except in the case where MIL-
STD-1472 is concerned. In such a case, MIL-STD-1472 shall govern. Nothing in this document, however,
supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.
3.
REQUIREMENTS

ties, and services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143.
Materials  The selection of materials and processes shall be IAW MIL-STD-1568 and MIL-

STD-1587. Materials not covered by this specification or referenced document shall be suitable for the in-
tended environment and application. The contractor shall not use nonstandard or proprietary materials
and processes without prior government approval.
3 1 . 2 . 1 D i s s i m i l a r metals.  Unless protected against electrolytic corrosion, dissimilar metals shall not
be used inintimate contact with each other. Dissimilar metals are defined in MIL-STD-889

MIL-P-23377 and MIL-P-26915 epoxy primers shall be used on aluminum and
ferrous alloys respectively.

P r o h i b i t e d Materials  The use of asbestos, wood and/or wood products IS prohibited Simi-
larly, vinyl, polyvinylchloride, polyester, and corrosive type RTV (yields acetic acid upon curing) are
prohibited for use in all electrical systems. If vinyl, polyvinylchloride, polyester, or corrosive type RTV are
used near an electrical system, the area must be adequately ventilated so as to prevent any corrosive
