3.5.3.1.3 Plain shroud assembl y (887AS400).  The plain shroud assembly shall
contain a housing, radome, RF absorber and antenna hood.
3.5.3.3 EMCON shroud assemblies (887AS500 and 1098AS5OO). The EMCON shroud
assembly shall contain a housing, radome,
absorber, antenna hood, retainer
strap assembly, and RFI seal subassembly which shall consist of RFI
fingerstock and retainer, a hinged door and a door operating mechanism.  EMCON
shroud 1098AS500 has a removable cover, which can be used in place of the test
set to allow use of shroud without test set, instead of a hinged door and a
door operating mechanism.
3.5.3.4 Transit case (1098AS12OO). The transit case shall consist of the
case assembl y and cushioning material.
3.5.4 Controls.  Two pushbutton control switches shall be located on the
front panel.  the "WPN TEST" pushbutton, when depressed shall enable the
command, battery self test, and RF detection subsystems.  The "SELF TEST"
pushbutton, when depressed, shall enable the command and battery self test
subsystems and shall apply a sweep voltage to activate the RF detector
circuit.  When both pushbuttons are depressed, the battery self test subsystem
shall be enabled and the RF detection sensitivity shall be increased to
provide an AN/AWW-7B pod radiation test capability. A six position rotary
switch as specified in 3.4.1.5 shall be used to select either Phase I or
Phase II function and a two digit pushbutton switch marked "CODE" shall be
used to set the recognition code when in the Phase II mode.
3.5.5 Material.
Materials shall be in accordance with DL 1098AS1OOO.
3.5.6 Workmanship
Workmanship shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-454,
Requirement 9.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection.  Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance
of all inspection requirements as specified herein.  Except as otherwise
specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or
any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection
requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The
Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in
the specification, where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure
supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance.  All Items must meet all requirements of
sections 3 and 5.
he inspection set forth in this specification shall become
a part of the contractor' s' overall inspection system or quality program.  The
absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve
the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies
submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the
contract.
Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of
known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the
Government to acceptance of defective material.
