Six of the VCOs shall be operated at fixed frequencies with the outputs

being applied to the mixer 1A4A2 when the appropriate switch on the data

test panel is pressed. Table I lists the commands and associated VCO

frequencies.

3.6.5.1.19 Mixer amplifier (1A4A2). The amplifier shall be a basic

operational amplifier capable of summing the VCO outputs. The amplifier

shall be capable of summing 10 inputs but only eight shall be presently

used. Again the potentiometer in the feedback path shall allow the

composite modulation signal amplitude to be adjusted to the proper level.

The mixer output shall be connected to coaxial switch 1A4S15 for switching

to the transmitter 1A4TR1 or the Encoder Drawer Assembly 1A5. The mixer

3.6.5.1.20 Transmitter (1A4TR1). The transmitter shall be a five channel

VHF FM transmitter. The transmitter shall be frequency modulated by the

composite signal from the mixer amplifier 1A4A2. The transmitter shall

require +28V dc for heater supply and +28V dc for transmitter power on. The

+28V dc for the heater supply shall be applied when DATA LINK is selected,

and the +28V dc power on is provided through the XMTR ON/XMTR OFF switch

1A4S4.

3.6.5.1.21 Coaxial switches (1A4S15 and 1A4S16). These coaxial switches

shall be activated by the TONE/DIGITAL switch 1A5S14 (in the Encoder Drawer

1A5) . With switch 1A5S14 in the TONE position, the mixer output shall be

directed through 1A4S15 and 1A4S16 to the transmitter modulation input.

With 1A5S14 in the DIGITAL position, coaxial switch 1A4S15 shall direct the

mixer output to the Encoder Drawer 1A5 via cable W55.

3.6.6 Encoder drawer assembly. The encoder assembly shall be manufactured

in accordance with DL412AS9000 and shall meet the requirements stated

thereon and in 3.6.6.1 through 3.6.6.1.6.
