2.2 Other publications.  The following documents form a part of this specification to the extent specified
herein, Unless otherwise indicated, the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or request for proposal
shall apply.

3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1  Qualification.  Power driven vacuum pumps furnished under this specification shall be products which
are qualified for listing on the applicable qualified products list at the time set for opening of bids (see
4.2 and 6.3).
Materials for the pump shall be in accordance with table I.
3.2 Materials.

3.2.1 Specification QQ-C-390 covers a number of alloys.  Alloys other than those shown in table I may be
#
used subject to prior approval by the Naval Ship Engineering Center (NAVSEC).
3.2.2 The use of materials differing in properties from those specified for a given application will be
considered when the supplier shows the necessity for such substitution, the material proposed is readily obtain-
able, and provided that the material is satisfactory to the command or agency concerned.
3.2.3 Where no specifications are specified herein for the material for certain parts, the material used
shall be of a type and quality consistent with that specified for associated parts in the pump. The use or sub-
stitution of manufacturers material shall be subject to approval by the command or agency concerned and shall
