MIL-V-62008B(AT)
3.6.18.3 Winch. The winch shall be capable of reeling the cable on the fourth layer at a
rate of not less than 30 feet per minute in low gear with the engine at 1800 rpm. The winch shall
produce a line pull of not less than 17,500 pounds using a single part line in low gear, fourth
layer of cable on the drum. The hydraulic relief valve shall prevent the exertion of a line pull of
20,000 pounds or more under the same conditions.
3.6.18.4 Winch brakes. The brakes of the winch shall be a type having automatic
mechanical application and hydraulic release. The brake shall automatically apply and hold the
load and prevent winch drum turning after hydraulic power has been removed. With the weight
suspended off the ground and winch control in neutral, there shall be no downward movement of
weight.
3.6.18.5 Bulldozer. The bulldozer moldboard movement shall be controlled by a four
position control valve. Positions shall be: raise, hold, lower, and float. The "raise" position
shall move the moldboard upward at a minimum rate of 2.5 inches per second at engine speed of
not more than 1200 rpm from ground level to full raised position. The "hold" position shall
maintain the moldboard in approximate mid-position between ground level and carrying hook
height for 1 minute without the moldboard drifting downward more than 1/4-inch. The "lower"
position shall lower the moldboard from the maximum raised position to 6 inches below ground
level. In the maximum "lower" position, the bulldozer shall be capable of lifting the front of the
vehicle and hold in this position for 1 minute. The "float" position shall allow the moldboard to
drift downward from raised position to ground level.
3.6.18.6 Vehicle hydraulic control system cleanliness. When all the requirements of the
vehicle hydraulic control system have been met, the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir shall contain
no more than 0.1 percent water and the contamination level shall not be greater than that shown
in table IV.
3.6.18.7 Hydraulic system fluid leakage. Fluid leakage of the vehicle hydraulic control
system components, excluding lines and fittings shall be permissible in the form of a weep, seep,
or droplet. There shall be no evidence of fluid leakage in the form of a drip from the vehicle
hydraulic control system.
3.7 Painting, marking and data plates.
3.7.1 Painting. Unless otherwise specified, the exterior and interior of vehicle and all
components, assemblies, subassemblies, and parts that require painting shall be prepared and
painted in accordance with MIL-STD-193. Vehicle exterior paint and exterior non-skid paint
shall be forest green camouflage lusterless enamel, alkyd, per MIL-E-52798. The vehicle
interior paint shall match color chip 17875 of Federal Standard No. 595. All sliding parts and
operating contact surfaces shall be free of paint.
3.7.2 Marking. Marking and marking paint shall conform to Federal Specification
TT-E-527, lusterless black, color chip 37038 of Federal Standard 595 as specified on
drawing 8736334.
