c. Place the power switch in the "off" position and actuate control switch to
"remote" and repeat the applicable portions of a and b above.
d. At the conclusion of a through c above, visually verify that additional
adjustment capability of the traverse and elevation adjusting screws exist.
4.5.1.20 Power plant electrical. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.10 during operation
of the vehicle, the driver instrument panel shall be observed for proper display of engine
functions as specified.
4.5.1.21 Air cleaner blower check. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.11 with the
engine running at idle, air flow shall be detectable at each of the four air cleaner blower outlets.
"No" flow at any of the outlets shall be cause for rejection.
4.5.1.22 Engine manifold heater check. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.12, the
pushbutton switch on the purge pump handle and the starter switch shall be activated and pin "a"
of the multiple connector of the engine electrical disconnect shall be checked for proper voltage.
4.5.1.23 Personnel heater. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.13, actuate the Hi-Lo
switch to either position and verify reduced speed blower motor operation. Verify that the
indicator lamp on the control panel lights within 4 minutes of turn-on as an indication of burner
ignition. Subsequent to ignition, verify that the blower motor is operating at full speed and that
high heat is generated when the Hi-Lo switch is in the Hi position and low heat is generated
when in the Lo position. When the Hi-Lo switch is turned to the off position, verify that both the
indicator lamp goes out and the blower motor shuts off within 3.5 minutes.
4.5.1.24 Engine smoke generator test. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.14 when the
vehicle is equipped with an engine smoke generator, activate the smoke generator switch when
the engine is warm and operating at 1600 rpm. Verify that the right and left exhaust ducts emit
white smoke.
NOTE: Do not test the engine smoke generator for more than 15 seconds nor within a
building or with personnel exposed to the exhaust plume.
4.5.1.25 Provisions for radio installation. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.15 (b)
when a radio is not specified, an AN/VRC series radio set shall be installed and functionally
inspected through the AN/VIC-1 (V) intercom set to insure proper operation.
4.5.1.26 Main gun firing circuits. To determine conformance to 3.4.9.16, the main gun
firing circuit shall be checked using a special firing circuit tester which simulates the electrical
firing action of a conventional round. Insert tester into the gun and close the breech. Each of the
firing circuits (gunner power, manual elevation, and commander) and the auxiliary firing unit
shall be actuated. The firing circuit tester shall be constructed to emit a discernable signal upon
circuit completion. Absence of a discernable signal upon trigger or firing unit action, shall be
cause for rejection
