4.5.1.40.18 Turret control system fluid leakage check. To determine conformance to
3.6.13.18.1 and 3.6.13.18.2, the turret and gun control system components shall be wiped clean
before performing tests. During or after 5 cycles of elevating the main gun in the interference
zone, the leakage from the deck clearance valve shall not exceed that specified. During the
testing specified in 4.5.1.40.14, the fluid leakage from the override linkage control box shall not
exceed that specified.
4.5.1.40.19 Hydraulic pressure limits test. To determine conformance to 3.6.13.15, the
turret shall be traversed as specified and the system pressure gage observed for specified pressure
as the power pack motor comes on. With power pack motor running and the controls in their
neutral position, the power pack motor shall cut out at the specified system pressure.
4.5.1.41 Gun fire control system tests. To determine conformance to fire control system
requirements of 3.6.14, the following tests shall be performed. With the exception of boresight
retention, these tests may be conducted on an equivalent indoor turret stand using equipment
defined herein. The portion of the vehicle tested using this method shall be the turret and other
installations as assembled just prior to marriage of hull and track portion of the vehicle. Turret
input voltage shall be as specified in 3.6.12.1.
4.5.1.41.1 Synchronization tests. To determine conformance to 3.6.14.1 synchronization
tests shall be accomplished using figure 1 through figure 4 and the following equipment:
a. Turret stand. The turret mounting surface of the turret stand shall be level
within 0.2 mils.
b. Target and target stand. The targets (aiming points) shall be located on the
target stand as shown in figure 3. Targets shall be in a common plane within
1/16-inch. Details of aiming points shall be as shown in figure 4. The plane
formed by the zero gun aiming point 15 gun aiming point, and the 5
periscope aiming point shall be vertical within 0.5 mil. The distance from this
plane to the centerline of the turret stand shall be 522.5 inches plus or minus
1/8-inch. A vertical plane perpendicular to the aforementioned plane and
intersecting the zero gun aiming point shall intersect the zero gun aiming point
shall intersect the centerline of the turret mounting diameter of the turret stand
within 1/4-inch.
c. Alignment telescope, split level, and breech adapters the adapter shall locate
the split level or the alignment telescope in the main gun breech.
d. Gunner periscope aperture gage.
4.5.1.41.1.1 Checks and adjustments. With turret assembly installed on stand and stand
level as specified, the gun, sighting instruments, and test equipment shall be adjusted as follows:
