MIL-V-62008B(AT)
a. Main gun firing contamination levels shall be determined for separate three
round salvos for each type of ammunition designated for the main weapon.
b. Secondary weapon contamination levels shall be determined for one
200-round burst fired from each vehicle machine gun simultaneously.
4.5.3.5 Environmental test. To determine conformance to 3.6.1, vehicle properly
serviced and equipped, shall be subjected to the high temperature specified and observed for
performance and heating conditions. With vehicle operating in ambient air temperature of 115F
and a cooling air intake grille restriction not exceeding 2 inches H2O, measured between
cylinders with cooling air exhaust restriction but not exceeding 4 inches H2O measured above the
cooling fans for all transmission gear ranges above the 0.3 maximum speed ratio point, the
vehicle shall meet the performance requirements. The vehicle properly serviced and equipped
shall be subjected to the sub-zero temperatures and checked for operational requirments.
4.5.3.6 Speed on grades check. To determine conformance to 3.6.3.2, the vehicle shall
be operated on specified grades at specified speeds and checked for operational requirments.
4.5.3.7 Deep water fording test. To determine conformance to 3.6.8.2, the vehicle with
fording kit installed, shall be driven into water and checked for accumulation of water and tests
performed to determine the extent of contamination in the lubricants (see 4.5.2.3). The vehicle
shall be operated in specified depths of water for specified time periods and observed for
function of engine and all other components.
4.5.3.8 Trench crossing tests. Vehicle selected shall be driven at a speed not to exceed
5 mph without stalling over trenches as specified in 3.6.9. The boom shall be in the stowed
position and securely clamped in the turret and hull travel locks. After test, the vehicle shall be
examined for damage.
4.5.3.9 Vertical obstacle test. Vehicle selected shall be driven at a speed not to exceed
5 mph without stalling over vertical obstacles as specified in 3.6.10. The boom shall be in the
stowed position and securely clamped in the turret travel locks. After test, the vehicle shall be
examined for damage.
4.5.3.10 Climbing test. To determine conformance to 3.6.11, each vehicle shall be
driven in forward and reverse gear up an approved 60 percent grade and on 30 percent side
slopes.
4.5.3.11 Carbon dioxide distribution check. To determine conformance to 3.9 and
4.5.2.11, the fire extinguisher system shall be tested and the results examined for adequate
distribution and control. With the engine idling at 700 to 800 RPM and CO2 concentration
meters located at the approximate center of each perforated distribution tube, the internal
controls shall be operated as specified, using Force Gage 8752278. The first shot shall actuate
