depression, and the launcher shall move for both forward and rearward 4 degrees control handle
deflection when the action switches are depressed.
4.7.39 Nightsight tests. To determine conformance to 3.4.9, 3.6.12.9.3 and 3.6.14.2, the
nightsight control linkages shall be connected and the weapon station nightsight controls
exercised through their full range to verify smoothness of operation without binding. Linkages
shall then be disconnected. Test shall be performed a total of ten times. Effective operation with
the nightsight and controls shall be demonstrated by acquisition of a simulated night time target.
4.7.40 Hull periscopes and vision block test. To determine conformance 3.4.5, all vehicle
hull periscopes and vision blocks shall be tested for fit and functional requirements.
4.7.41 ITA image quality test. To determine conformance to 3.6.13.1.2 and 3.6.13.1.3, the
ITA shall be visually examined by a test gunner before and after tracking smoothness test to
verify that the ITA exhibits no random motion of the image during launcher tracking, which
impairs performance, and that there is no evidence of internal moisture and fogging.
4.7.42 Squad leader's periscope test. To determine conformance to 3.6.13.2, the squad
leader's periscope shall be tested to verify that the specified articulations of the line-of-sight are
maintained.
4.7.43 MGS interface tests. To determine conformance to 3.6.14.1, the standard set of
missile guidance set (MGS) self-test 1 through 7 shall be performed as specified in MIS-14061.
It shall be established that launcher elevation movements up and down result in MGS EL meter
deflections right and left, and that launcher azimuth motion CW and CCW results in MGS AZ
meter deflection right and left, respectively.
