MIL-V-62475(AT)
4.6.4.18.5 Boresight. To determine conformance to 3.5.19.5, it shall be verified that the
night sight and G/VLLD can be collimated within the specified accuracy. It shall be verified that
the optical coupler and the ITA are pupil matched.
4.6.4.19 Targeting station. To determine conformance to 3.5.20, the targeting station shall
be operated and functional requirements shall be verified.
4.6.4.19.1 Azimuth slew mode. To determine conformance to 3.5.20.1, the hand control
shall be used to demonstrate azimuth rate controls in the slew mode. Maximum slew rate shall
be verified by measuring time to travel 180 degrees when the hand control is deflected to the
maximum displacement in traverse. This shall be done in both directions.
4.6.4.19.1.1 Azimuth track mode. To determine conformance to 3.5.20.1.1, the hand control
shall be used to demonstrate the azimuth rate controls in the track mode. The minimum azimuth
traverse rate shall be no greater than 0.1 milliradians per second.
4.6.4.19.2 Elevation (maximum rate). To determine conformance to 3.5.20.2, the hand
control shall be used to demonstrate the control of the targeting head elevation rate. Maximum
elevation and depression rates shall be checked by measuring the time to travel the full range
elevation angle with maximum hand control displacement.
4.6.4.19.2.1 Elevation (minimum rate). To determine conformance to 3.5.20.2.1, the hand
control shall be used to demonstrate the minimum elevation rate. The minimum rate shall be
0.1 milliradians per second or less.
4.6.4.19.2.2 Azimuth and elevation positional capability. To determine conformance to
3.5.20.2.2, the hand control shall be used to rotate the targeting station 360 degrees minimum,
right and left. To demonstrate maximum elevation and depression, the targeting head shall be
operated in elevation in both directions until action is prohibited. Angles shall be measured and
recorded.
4.6.4.19.3 Pointing, tracking and target locating accuracy. To determine conformance to
3.5.20.3 and 3.5.20.4, the FISTV vehicle shall be subjected to a tracking test which compares
performance of a qualified operator using a tripod mounted G/VLLD to the same operator using
a FISTV mounted G/VLLD. Performance shall be as specified. The test shall be repeated at
least three times and the scores averaged. The test shall be executed using a target with suitably
repeatable movement characteristics in order to assure compatibility of scoring.
4.6.4.19.4 Position retention. To determine conformance to 3.5.20.5, the targeting head shall
be erected and a target (presurveyed point) shall be acquired. The hydraulic pump shall be
disabled and five minutes shall be allowed to elapse at which time the position (azimuth and
elevation) of the head shall be measured and compared with the position at the start of the test.
The change shall not exceed the specified value. The NSG may be used as the angle measuring
device for this test.
