Marking.  In addition to the markings required by the con-

tract order, units packages and shipping containers shall be marked in
accordance with requirements of MIL-STD-129.

Intended use.  The valve is intended for use as part of a

torpedo fuel delivery system.  It opens when gas pressure from a com-
bustion chamber drives a piston-knife into a disc and ruptures it. The
fuel then flows, from the fuel tank to the combustion chamber through the
valve.
Ordering data.

Procurement documents should specify the
following:
a. Title, number and date of this specification
b.  Assigned activity for preproduction tests
c. Any exceptions to this specification
d.  Inspection data required
e.  Required level of preservation, packaging and packing

Definitions

Ready.  The condition of the valve when fully assembled,

after completion of servicing and maintenance, with the ports plugged.
Operating.
The condition of the valve when operating.

Non-o perating. The condition of the valve when stored,
transported, or handled.  Tests on the valve, in the non-operating con-
dition, shall be performed without packaging or packing.

Vibration.  Vibration is a sinusoidal motion defined by
amplitude and frequency.  The amplitude may refer to displacement or to
acceleration.  The displacement is given in inches peak-to-peak or the
corresponding maximum acceleration is gravitational units. The frequency
is given in cycles per second.
Acceleration (steady state).  Acceleration (steady state) is

the time rate of change of velocity of a body resulting from the appli-
cation of a sustained external force with a uniform build-up to peak in
more than 0.010 seconds.  Acceleration is given in gravitational units.
