4.2.2 Scope of Tests.  Preproduction tests shall include all tests
deemed necessary by the procuring activity to determine that the equipment
meets all the requirements of this specification, other applicable specifi-
cations and the contract.  Preproduction tests shall include:
(1) Individual Tests (See 4.3.1)
(2) Environmental Tests (See 4.2.2.1, 4.6.1)
(3) Preproduction Reliability Assurance Tests (See 4.2.2.2)
(4) Electromagnetic Interference Tests (See 4.2.2.3)
(5) Maintainability Demonstration Tests (See 4.2.2.4)
4.2.2.1 Environmental Tests.  Environmental tests shall be performed in
accordance with the procedure requirements of 4.6.1, to ensure that the require-
ments of 3.3.9, 3.3.10, 3.3.11, and 3.3.12 are met.  The Environmental test
requirements are listed in Table VI.  The test sequence shall be determined
by the contractor, subject to approval by the procuring activity. Environmental
test shall follow Qualification Phase Test.
4.2.2.1.1 Certification.  When specified in the contract, the following
requirements may be certified by the contractor by submission for certification
approval of design data, test data, test reports, analysis and other supporting
documentation required to demonstrate compliance with the applicable requirements:
Fungus 3.3.9.7
Salt Atmosphere 3.3.9.8
Explosive Atmosphere 3.3.9.9
Equipment Survivability/Crash Safety 3.3.9.10
Safety 3.3.9.11
Human Performance/Engineering 3.3.9.12
4.2.2.2 Preproduction Reliability Assurance Tests (RAT). Preproduction
RAT of the WDC shall consist of a Qualification Phase Test specified in
4.3.2.1.
4.2.2.3 Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Tests. EMI tests Shall be
performed in accordance with MIL-STD-461, Notice 3 and MIL-STD-462, Notice 2.
4.2.2.4 Maintainability Demonstration Tests. The I-Level and O-Level
maintainability requirements specified by 3.3.4, 3.3.6, and MIL-A-85055
