MIL-A-83783(USAF)
REQUIREMENTS
3.
3.1 Preproduction testing. This specification makes provisions for prepro-
duction testing.
3.2 General. The requirements of MIL-E-4158 and MIL-C-25200 are applicable
as requirements of this specification. When conflict occurs, the requirements
of this specification shall govern.
3.2.1 Producibility.  The test adapter shall be designed in such a manner as
to utilize available-production facilities and methods to the maximum extent
possible and to minimize the need for specialized tools and equipment.
3.2.2 Maintainability. The test adapter shall have a minimum number of parts
consistent with reliability. The general principles Outlined in MIL-STD-1472
shall be adhered to.
3.3 Design and contruction. The design and construction of the test adapter
shall be in conformance with Air Force Drawing 7036933-l0 and subsidiary draw-
ings. Associated cabling shall be in accordance with MIL-C-25200.
3.3.1 Interchangeability.  All parts having the same manufacturer's part
number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable.
3.4 Performance.  The test adapter, when used In conjunction with the
AN/GWM-4 analyzer, shall be capable of performing the necessary tests and
checks to assure proper functioning of aircraft monitoring systems using the
Control-Monitor Group AF/A24T-l and the DCU-9/A In-flight Control-Monitor.
In addition, the test adapter and AN/GWM-4 Analyzer shall be capable of check-
ing B52/Clip-In subassembly wiring system as required" The test adapter Shall
provide the necessary conversion of circuitry to enable the analyzer to check
l ach circuit of the systems to be tested.
3.5 Materials.  Materials that are nutrients for fungi shall not be used where
it is-practical to avoid them.  Where used and not hermetically sealed, they
shall be treated with a fungicidal agent acceptable to the procuring activity.
However, if they are to be used in a hermetically sealed enclosure, fungicidal
treatment till not be necessary.
3.5.1 Metals.  Metals shall be of the corrosion-resist=t type or Shall be
suitably treated to resist corrosion from mineral oils, salt spray, or
at-spheric conditions likely to be met in storage or nomnal service.
3.5.2 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals shell not be used in intimate
contact with each other unless they are suitably protected against electrolytic
corrosion.
3.6 Environmental requirements. The test adapter shall be capable of satis-
factory performance during or after exposure to the following environmental
conditions as specified:
a. High temperature, up to 71 Centigrade (C), 160 Farenheit (F) for
a period of 50 hours (see 4.6.3.1).
b. Low temperature, between -54C (-65F) and -62C (-80F) (see 4.6.3.2)
for a period of 72 hours.
