shall be applied simultaneously, one clockwise and one counterclock-
wise with the bomb firmly fixed at the center section.
4.5.3.9 Shroud Ring Static Pull.  The assembled bomb shall be tested
to withstand a load of 120,000 pound parachute opening shockloading
applied longitudinally through the twelve (12) suspension line
support points. The load should be applied in 10 percent increments
until failure occurs or the maximum load of 120,000 pounds is
obtained.
5.
PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5,1 Levels of Preservation and Packaging
5.1.1 Levels A, B, and C. Bomb, Practice BDU-38/B shall be preserved
in accordance with MIL-P-116, Method III.
5.2 Levels of Packaging
5.2.1 Level A. Bomb, Practice BDU-38/B, preserved to meet 5.1.1 shall
be packed in exterior type containers meeting MIL-B-26195, Type I,
Style A, B, or C; Class 1 or 2. As far as practicable, exterior Con-
tainers shall be of uniform shape and size be of minimum cube and tare
consistent with the protection required. Containers shall be closed
and strapped in accordance with the applicable container, specification
or appendix thereto.
5.2.2 Levels B and C. Bomb, Practice BDU-38/B, preserved and packed
to meet 5.1.1 shall be in domestic type exterior containers to meet
PPP-C-650. Exterior containers shall be of minimum cube and tare
consistent with the protection required. As far as practicable, exterior
containers shall be of uniform shape and size, with the protection
required. Containers shall be closed and strapped in accordance with
the applicable container specification or appendix thereto.
5.3. Physical Protection. Cushioning, blocking, bracing, bolting, and
testing to determine adequacy as required shall be in accordance with
MIL-P-7936.
5.4 Marking. Interior and exterior containers shall be marked in
accordance with MIL-STD-129. The nomenclature shall be
BOMB, PRACTICE BDU-38/B

NOTES
6.1 Intended Use. the BDU-38/B Practice Bomb is intended for use in
training aircrews in delivery of the free fall and retarded version of
the parent weapon. The practice bomb with the use of spare parts is
reusable.
