MILITARY SPECIFICATION
BUS, MOTOR: AMBULANCE, INTERCITY, 40 PASSENGER, 6x2 or 6x4
This specification is approved for use by the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Command,
Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of
the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers a six-wheel, four- or two-rear wheel drive, diesel
engine driven, intercity type motor bus ambulance, having a seating capacity for 40 adult
passengers for long distance transportation. The bus has features to allow ready conversion to
accommodate 18 litter patients, the driver, and four seated attendants. Except for customized
ambulance conversion features, vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items.
Frame and all chassis components, heating and air conditioning equipment shall be commercially
available items. The vehicle shall be warranted as specified in the procurement documents.
