4.5.6.3 Self Destruct (SD) Mode. The Body Assemblies selected
for SD Mode (See Note), set for normal or extended at launch, shall
be subjected to the following:
a. The conditioning temperature shall be maintained until
the programmed SD time has elapsed. CAUTION SHALL BE
OBSERVED DURING AND AFTER RETURN OF DUDS TO AMBIENT
TEMPERATURE FOR POSSIBLE HEALING OR REMISSION OF FAULT(S)
FOLLOWED BY LATE OR LOW VOLTAGE DETECTION (LVD) FUNCTIONING.
b. Assy set for normal SD and failing to function at the
end of the programmed interval shall be monitored until
extended SD. Attempts shall then be made to function unit
in Tripline mode (see 4.5.6.2). Failing both modes the unit
shall be set aside for 24 hours for later dismantling and
analysis with precautions taken as noted in (a) above.
c. Observe and record the number of triplines deployed per
mine.
d. Observation shall be made for compliance with
requirements of 3.4 (b, c) and Dwg 9292960.
e. Subsequent to the test and observing necessary safety
precautions, the Tested Assemblies shall be dismantled and
failure analyzed. For duds, allow a min of 24 hours after
extended SD runout (see 4.5.6.3.a). Failure analysis shall
include cause of tripline nondeployment. (Destructive Test)
NOTE: Ground lead of AD Switch, P/N 9298512-1, located on
Electronic Assembly P/N 9292965 shall be cut just prior to
performing the destructive test specified in paragraph 4.4.2.40,
Category 106.
4.5.6.4 Premature Arming; Premature Detonation; Early Self
Destruct; Low Order; Detonation; Hazardous Dud; Non-Hazardous Dud;
Tripline Failures.
a. Premature Arming is defined as arming of the S&A Assy
(actuation of micropistion actuator) prior to minimum arming
time specified on Dwg 9292960.
b. Premature Detonation is defined as detonation of an
armed S&A Assy prior to the minimum electronic arm time
specified on Dwg 9292960.
c. Early Self Destruct is defined as detonation
of an armed
S&A occurring at or after the minimum electronic
arm time
specified on Dwg 9292960 but prior to the set SD
time
period, or prior to being functioned by AD or TL
Mode.
