4.4.2 End item examination.
4.4.2.1 Visual examination.  End item examination shall be conducted in
accordance with the following classification of defects.  Examination shall
include, but shall not be limited to, the defects listed in table III.  The
inspection level shall be S-3 with an acceptable quality level (AQL) of 2.5
for major defects and 40 for total defects, expressed in terms of defects per
hundred units.  The unit of product shall be the component of-an end item
or an end item, as applicable.
