3.23.5 Cleaning - The control assembly components shall be cleaned
thoroughly of loose, spattered or excess solder, metal chips, or other
foreign material after assembly.  Burrs and sharp edges as well as resin
flash which might crumble shall be removed.
3.24
Lubrication - The displacement gyroscope rotor and gimbal, and
electronic control amplifier electro-mechanical assembly bearings shall
be lubricated.
3.24.1 Rotor Bearing Lubrication - The rotor bearings shall be lubricated
with grease conforming to MIL-G-81322 or MINIPURE grease with particle
size not exceeding 50 microns.
3.24.2 Bearing Lubrication - The lubricating oil used in gimbal bearings
shall conform to the requirements of MIL-L-81846.
3.24.3 Barrier Film Bearing Coating - All bearings shall be processed
in
accordance  with MIL-STD-1334.
The coating  material  shall be
in
accordance with MIL-B-81744.  All bearings, including chamfered races
or
corners,  and including  interfacing parts where applicable,  shall
be
barrier coated.
3.24.4 Ball Bearings - Ball beatings shall be ABEC-5 grade or better.
Teflon separators shall be used on gimbal bearings where  the bearing
design permits.
Spin  rotor  bearings  shall have  porous  separators
impregnated with lubricant MIL-L-81846 and shall be ABEC-7 or better.
3.24.5 Ball Bearing Pre-Loading - Means shall be provided for preloading
and  alignment  without  causing  eccentric  loading  unless  otherwise
authorized.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1
Responsibility for Inspection - Unless otherwise specified in the
contract,  the contractor  is responsible  for the performance of all
inspection  requirements as  specified  herein.
Except as  otherwise
specified in the contract,  the contractor may use his own or any other
facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements
specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government.  The Government
reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the
specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that
supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
