MILITARY SPECIFICATION
CHASSIS, TRAILER, SINGLE- AND MULTI-AXLE
GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the
Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers various sizes of single- and multi-axle cart-type trailer
chassis having a low-silhouette frame, suitable for skid-mounted operating equipment. The
trailer chassis are compatible for towing behind trucks, both commercial and military design and
for being hauled behind construction and industrial machinery (CIM) equipment. These trailer
chassis are compatible with a variety of operating machinery equipment, work tool sets, and shop
sets which supplement and assist other equipment on earthmoving, construction, and materials
handling jobs.
1.2 Classification. Trailer chassis shall be of the following sizes, as specified (see 6.2). The
size of trailer shall be determined by the minimum DOT Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
as follows:
