2.3 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and
the references cited herein, the text of this specification and its specification sheets shall take
precedence.
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Description. The trailer chassis shall be as specified herein and on the applicable size
specification sheets (see 1.2). The trailer chassis shall consist of a round tow eye, draw bar
structure, support leg (landing jack), equipment bed frame with standardized crossmembers, rear
suspension, running gear, brake system, and electrical system. The equipment bed shall accept
both skid mounted end items and equipment which can be mounted on a skid to mate with the
standardized trailer framing. The equipment bed shall be compatible with various sets and
assemblies of engineer type operating equipment (see 6.1) with the exception of the size 9
military design trailer chassis, all other trailers shall be of the commercial construction
equipment (CCE) types. These CCE trailer chassis shall be equipped with all components,
furnished as standard and optional equipment, whether specified herein or not, that are necessary
to enable the trailer chassis to function safely, reliably, and efficiently in engineer and
construction job applications. Size 9 trailer chassis shall be of the military design type as
required on the drawings and herein.
3.1.1 Specification sheets. The individual specifications of each size of trailer chassis shall
be covered in the individual specification sheets. Chassis shall be furnished with standard
components. When and as specified (see 6.2, T-1) the chassis shall be furnished with the
optionally required components as specified by the contracting activity.
