3.5.2 Type II. Type II vehicle shall include a fully enclosed cab for cargo and passenger
transport. The cab shall conform to 3.4.9 and shall include a rear door. The cab shall be
furnished with a front roll bar as protection for the driver and front passenger. A second roll bar,
located to the rear of the vehicle, shall be provided. Both front and rear roll bars shall be not less
than 3/16 inch thick steel in a 2 inch square tube. The rear storage area shall be capable of
transporting a payload not less than as specified in table I, minus driver and passenger weight
(175 pounds each).
3.5.2.1 Seats. Seating for an additional four to six passengers in the rear of the cab shall
be provided. Rear seats shall be of the cushioned bench type with seat belts and padded back
rests. When specified (see 6.2), the seats shall be of the fold-up bench type. Seats shall fold
flush to the walls permitting storage in the full rear of the cab.

3.5.3 Type III. Type III vehicle shall include a 2-man cab, a 3-men crew cab, and a
flatbed. The 2-man cab shall conform to 3.4.9 and shall be furnished with a roll bar of not less
than 3/16 inch thick steel in a 2 inch square tube. The crew cab shall be provided with a roll bar
as specified above, and shall be furnished with seating for three passengers. At least one side
door for access to the crew cab shall be furnished. The crew cab shall be furnished with a bench
seat and shall be open to the front cab. The inside height shall be not less than 48 inches. The
flatbed uncovered cargo area behind the crew cab shall be not less than 17 square feet in area and
shall be capable of transporting a payload not less than as specified in table I, minus driver and
passenger weights (175 pounds each).

3.5.4 Escape hatch. When specified (see 6.2), an escape hatch shall be provided in the
roof of the vehicle. The escape hatch shall provide easy access for personnel and shall be of
sufficient dimension to provide a quick, unimpaired exit from the vehicle.
3.6 Servicing and adjusting. Prior to acceptance of the vehicle by the Government, the
contractor shall service and adjust the vehicle for operational use, including at least the
following: alinement of lights; adjustment of the engine, electrical and brake systems; inflation
of all tires; adjustment of track tension; complete lubrication of chassis and engine with grades of
lubricants recommended for the ambient air temperature at the delivery point; servicing of the
cooling system with a solution of 70 percent ethylene glycol type antifreeze and 30 percent water
by volume; and servicing of the windshield washer reservoir with water and appropriate
additives.
